The '80s played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of video games and gaming culture in general; especially when it came to personal gaming.
Major advancements took place from 1980-1989. Most notably, as is with any generational jump, the improvements in graphics, music and overall game-play. Also, gaming became much more accessible, as it made the move from the arcade down the street, into our living rooms. Not only that, but the '80s also introduced ultimate portability for users, with Nintendo's release of the
Game Boy, in 1989.
Originally, we were going to cut this off at 20, but with a list so loaded, games like Ninja Gaiden, Frogger and Paperboy would have been left out; and we just couldn't have that.
